Parking Permits will be available for the 2010-2011 School Year.  Please click the link above for the Parking Application.  Remember to bring your completed application, driver's license, registration and insurance card with you.  Parking Permits are $50.00.  Cash or checks accepted.

Deposits for your Senior Class Trip to Disneyworld in March of 2011 are due now!  We reached the 80% limit and the trip is on.  If you plan to attend and have not brought in your deposit, please do so ASAP!

Clubs and Activities

Student Council

The Student Council is the central body of student leadership at Holy Cross.  Members of the Student Council are elected by the entire student body in the spring for upperclassman, and in the fall for freshman.  This organization is responsible for school dances, many major events, and homecoming, as well as influencing school policy through the proper channels.  Our Student Council at Holy Cross is also a member of the New Jersey Association of Student Councils and the National Association of Student Councils.  The Student Council meets both during the flex period as well as after school, and is moderated by Mr. Nolan.

 

Yearbook

The yearbook team meets all year both during the flex period and after school to put together the school’s annual yearbook.  The yearbook encourages students with talent or interest in writing, photography, and art to join.  The group meets in the yearbook room, room 118 and is moderated by Mrs. Cray.

 

Newspaper

The newspaper meets year round both during the flex period and after school to put together the school newspaper in the guidance office.  Students with talent or interest in writing, photography, and art are encouraged to help out with the newspaper.  Mr. Merkel is the moderator of the newspaper.

 

Mission Club

The mission club works every year to raise money for the missions both overseas and in America.  Every year the mission club raises generous donations that result in paying for the tuition of two students in Kenya and one student in Camden.  The mission club is a year-long organization that runs various fundraisers and takes an annual trip to the Diocesan Mission Reach-Out Day.  The mission club meets both after school and during the flex period in the Media Center with their moderator, Sister Bernadette.

 

Tumbler

The Tumbler is the school’s annual literary magazine.  Tumbler meets both during the flex period as well as after school in room 218 to write, review, and edit student essays, stories, poetry, and artwork.  The moderator of the Tumbler is Mrs. Byrnes.

 

Alternative Activities Club

The AAC works on a year long basis to create fun activities for students and discourage the use of alcohol and recreational drugs.  AAC often runs trips to go white water rafting, the Polar Bear Plunge, and rock climbing.  The AAC meets in various locations around the school to plan their events with their moderator, Mr. Mulvenna.

 

Rebel

Rebel is a national anti-smoking organization that meets both after school and during the flex period.  Every year Rebel organizes anti-smoking fundraisers as well as a Saturday anti-smoking symposium.  Rebel is moderated by Mr. Mulvenna.

 

Chess Club

The chess club is a year long club in which students learn chess strategy and test their skills among their peers.  The chess club meets both during the flex period and after school in room 111 with Mr. Waters.

 

Knowledge Bowl

Knowledge Bowl is a trivia club in which students learn trivia and compete against students from other schools with their trivia abilities.  The knowledge bowl meets both during the flex period and after school in room 111 with their moderator, Mr. Waters.

 

Lancers for Life

Lancers for Life is a pro-life club that organizes several pro-life fundraisers and trips throughout the year.  Lancers for Life attends the annual pro-life walk in Washington DC.  This organization meets both during the flex period and after school in room 103.  The moderator of Lancers for Life is Mrs. New.

 

Theatre Program

The theatre program at Holy Cross performs 3 productions every year: one in October, another in December, and a spring musical in April.  Students with talents or interest in acting, singing, and dancing are encouraged to join the theatre program.  Auditions are held throughout the year in room 50 and most rehearsals take place in the auditorium.  Mr. Esmond is the Director of the theatre program and Mr. Bonnette is the Musical Director.

 

Dance Team

The dance team rehearses in the dance studio after school and performs at most home basketball games.  Auditions for the dance team are held early in the year, and the team is moderated by Ms. Callahan.

 

Choir

Choir meets both after school and during the flex period in room 50 to rehearse for all school Masses and concerts.  The choir welcomes students of all vocal parts and types as well as students who wish to take part in the liturgical band.  Mr. Bonnette is the choir director.

 

Stage Crew

Stage Crew works in the auditorium both during the flex period and after school.  The stage crew is responsible for building sets for all productions as well as running sound and lights for all school productions, Masses, and assemblies.  Chris Snyder is the coordinator of lights and sound for stage crew and Mr. Esmond moderates construction.

 

Art Club

Art club meets both during the flex period and after school in room 60 with Mr. Dvorak to work on artwork and organize art-related trips.  All students who are artistically inclined are encouraged to join.

 

Spanish Club

The Spanish Club meets both after school and during the flex period in room 119 to organize Spanish cultural events and work on their perfection of the Spanish language. 

 

French Club

The French Club meets both after school and during the flex period in room 103 with Mrs. New.  The French club organizes French cultural events for the school and works on honing their own skills in the French language.

 

Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry meets both after school and during the flex period to help organize school service events, Masses, and retreats.  The campus ministry team consists of all lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, and altar servers as well as a team of people who help organize retreats.  Campus ministry meets in the Campus Ministry Office as well as in room 105 and is moderated by Mrs. Gaffney

 

Interact

Interact is a service-based organization that is coordinated with the Delran Rotary.  Interact runs several service trips throughout the year and members attend monthly luncheons with the Delran Rotary.  All Interact events can be counted toward service hours.  Interact meets both during the flex period and during after school hours.

 

Key Club international

Key Club is an international service-based organization that is coordinated with the help of the local Kiwanis organization.  The Key Club is moderated by Mr. Esmond.

 

                       Ski Club                       

The ski club will meet both during the flex period and after school to organize several ski trips throughout the winter months to the Poconos as well as a weekend-long trip to Vermont.  The ski club meets in room 108 and is co-moderated by Mrs. Ritter and Mrs. Tosto.

 

Mock Trial

Mock Trial meets both during the flex period and after school to prepare for a competition against other schools.  Students are given a case on which they are to prepare research, arguments, and eventually take part in a trial.  The mock trial team is moderated by Mr. Moynahan and also works with a lawyer for advice.  Mock trial meets in room 206.

 

Board Game Club

The board game club meets in room 212 during the flex period to socialize and play brain twisting games.  The board game club is moderated by Ms. Peters.

 

 

Math Tutors

The Math Tutor Club works both during the flex period and after school to help students with math.  The club is moderated by Mr. Sgroi, and is staffed by members of the AP and honors math courses.  Math Tutors meet in room 224.

 

National Honors Society

The National Honors society is open to juniors and seniors with exceptional grades and community service background by invitation only during junior or senior year.  The NHS meets both during the flex period and after school in room 109.  Every year the NHS hosts a blood drive, canned food collection, and several other community service events and fundraisers.  The NHS is moderated by Sister Claudette.

 

Equestrian Club

The Equestrian club is open to all horse lovers and riders of all abilities. The club rides once a week in a formal lesson at Mason Run Farm with Marie Asper our trainer.  Other activities include trail riding, learning about horse care, and volunteering for a local therapeutic riding program where service hours can be earned. Music Appreciation Club

The music appreciation club meets during flex to listen to and play music.  Students often bring their guitars and other instruments to try new things and jam.  The Music Appreciation Club is Moderated by Mrs. Byrnes.


Habitat For Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a nationally recognized service organization that builds and rebuilds homes in impoverished and physically troubled areas.  Every year Habitat organizes several builds in Philadelphia as well as a November trip to help rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi.  Habitat is moderated by Mr. Fynan.
