Summer Reading

Summer Reading 2010-2011

 One Book, One School

One Book, One School is a school-wide community project at Holy Cross High School that promotes a common literacy. The One Book, One School summer reading selection for 2010-2011 is The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch.  Randy Pausch was a professor of computer science and the father of three small children when he learned that he had cancer.  He decided to give his last lecture not only for his students but also as a legacy for his family.  In this book, he tried to talk about the importance of living rather than the sadness of dying.  Many people find his lectures inspirational.  Pausch writes about everything from trying to achieve childhood dreams to how to be willing to embrace life, from painting the quadratic equation on his childhood bedroom wall to getting an autographed photo from his childhood hero, William Shatner from Star Trek. We invite the entire community to read the book.  You can purchase the summer reading book online by clicking the Varsity Books icon below.
